Origine by Diam's 'Green Cork' Recognized as the Best Next-Generation Technological Innovation

Posted on December 03, 2019

Modesto, Calif.—Considered by many wine makers and industry professionals to be one of the most innovative, environmentally-sound wine closures, Origine by Diam’s “green” cork has now earned international recognition with the presentation of the prestigious “SIMEI Technology Innovation Award” for 2019 in Milan, Italy, in November.

The Origine by Diam closure is composed of natural elements including a binder made from plant-derived polyols and beeswax emulsion. Origine by Diam was selected by the judges of the prestigious Innovation Challenge as a next-generation technological innovation. It was selected as the best among some of the most innovative and cutting-edge product offerings available today in the wine industry.

Dominique Tourneix, Managing Director of Diam Bouchage, accepted the award on behalf of Diam Bouchage and its distributors. G3 Enterprises is the exclusive distributor of Origine by Diam closures and all Diam products in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“I think the SIMEI 2019 Technology Innovation Award jury wanted to reward both the spirit of research and innovation which has always been at the very heart of our work,” said Tourneix. He added, “This recognition is the confirmation of the soundness of our research philosophy. After the introduction of DIAMANT technology, the Origine by Diam closure is yet again revolutionizing the wine world with a major technological advancement that combines science and nature. As a result of many years of research into beeswax emulsion and 100% plant-derived polyols, we are able to offer an all-natural corking solution, while maintaining the reliability of Diam closures in terms of safety, homogeneity and controlled permeability.”

Origine by Diam is also certified OK Biobased, a specific certification for products composed of natural materials. It achieved a 4-star rating which acknowledges that Origine by Diam is made from 80% to 100% renewable raw material content.
