Posted on February 17, 2010

P&L Specialties, international manufacturer of grape reception and selection equipment, has been certified as a "Green Manufacturer" by the Bay Area Green Business Program. P&L Specialties is the second Manufacturer in Sonoma County to receive this prestigious certification.

The Company was awarded its certification and recognized for its environmental achievements at an official ceremony with the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on February 2 2010; there were several other businesses being recognized at the ceremony and the presentation included awards and praise for the commitment to the environment and the economy.

P&L Specialties was founded in 1984 with an unwavering commitment to quality and performance. The company has been recognized many times over the years for their innovative designs and has been awarded a US patent on their line of LT™ MOG (material other than grape) removal machines.

“We have always been very diligent about recycling scrap and reusing materials and have always valued being good Stewarts of the environment. This certification process allowed us to acknowledge the good work we had been doing all along and to implement some new ideas we just hadn’t been aware of” Said Ed Barr P&L Specialties President. “It is a great feeling to have the whole company behind this effort and to see the improvements we have made, I’m very proud of our team”.

The Bay Area Green Business Program is a partnership of local utilities and government agencies. It was created to help businesses improve environmental standards and better comply with environmental regulations. It is a three year certification and requires renewal. This process encourages businesses to conserve resources, prevent pollution, minimize waste, and reduce their footprint. For more information, go to www.greenbiz.ca.gov.
