Western Square Industries Launches New Product, Red Fermenter

Posted on October 05, 2017

Stockton, CA, October 4, 2017 – Western Square Industries is pleased to announce to the wine industry the creation of the Red Fermenter. As an upgrade to our existing Barrel Master product line, the Red Fermenter, coupled with a hand-held drive motor, can save time, money and labor, and reduce potential injuries.

The Red Fermenter system is a rack-on-rack structure with wheels that allows lees to be stirred without introducing additional oxygen into the wine. With our special drive wheel and hand-held drive motor, a cellar worker can rotate barrels of red wine in both directions with minimal physical exertion.

The Red Fermenter’s large footprint, 63 ½ inches by 32 inches, extends beyond stacked barrels for greater stability, allowing barrels to be easily worked in place. Unlike traditional barrel racks, the Red Fermenter is a rack-on-rack system using Western Square’s unique interlocking loading system with no horizontal protrusions, allowing barrels to rest on their own. These racks can be stacked eight-high to make the most of available floor space. The Red Fermenter can be produced in cognac and puncheon sizes, and is offered in stainless steel or powder coated for lasting durability.

About Western Square Industries:

Western Square Industries was founded in 1978. We were the first to manufacture and powder coated farm gates on the west coast, and we did it with unique square tubing. In 1993, Trygve Mikkelsen gained control and saw the potential for barrel racks in the wine market. Using quality steel and our durable powder coating finish, we quickly became the industry standard for barrel room storage and safety. In the years since, we’ve grown into a family run business, defining quality and dependability for winemakers, brewers, distillers, cider producers, water distributors, and farmers who rely on what we make to help them make what they love.
