Guala Closures Group Opens Its First Production Plant In USA

Posted on October 03, 2014

In the presence of Senator Lois Wolk and Mayor Harry Price, as well as other dignitaries, Guala Closures Group officially opened its first production plant in the USA.

Based in Fairfield, California, the new facility opened its doors on September 12th to showcase the new Guala Closures Design Studio - an innovative service which allows in-house sample preparation for customers, followed by immediate production.

The Guala Closures Design Studio has on-site capabilities allowing clients to walk in with ideas for a new project, and walk out with the finished article in hand. Services include artwork creation, colour matching and production of runs as small as 1,000 closures thanks to the new Guala Closures side and top printing process which has been designed and developed by the company’s engineers to meet the requirements of the Californian wine market.

“This is a major accomplishment for our group,” explains Alessandro Bocchio, general manager for Guala Closures USA. “Opening a production facility in the US has been our goal for several years. We made it happen by working hard to build our place in the market, and by providing excellent customer service. Our Group has decided to invest in California with technologies that are revolutionary in our industry: we have combined digital printing, embossing and plasma processes in a fast output machine and this means Guala Closures’ California plant is now the leading facility in terms of innovation within both our Group, and our sector.”

Guala Closures Group (www.gualaclosures.com) is a multinational company founded in Italy in 1954, and is now the global leader in the production of non-refillable and aluminium closures for spirits, wine, oil and vinegar. With approximately 4,000 employees and 25 manufacturing plants worldwide, the company is the number one in its industry with sales in over 100 countries. The group puts great emphasis on research and development: it has five research centres in India, China, Mexico, Scotland and Italy where 20 new products have been created over the past three years and more than 70 international patents have been registered.
