Posted on June 01, 2011

Vintage Consulting Group Inc. is pleased to announce the hiring of Public Relations expert Lori Pike-Raffan. Lori joins Vintage Consulting with almost 15 years of PR experience.

In her new role, Lori is responsible for assisting Vintage Consulting clients with the full range of public relations and new media communications including: strategic PR planning, media outreach, messaging development, spokesperson media training, event publicity, press releases and distribution, speaking engagements, and social new media strategies, planning and execution.

Lori started her career as a public affairs consultant with GPC / Fleishman-Hillard after completing a graduate degree at the University of Victoria. She then moved to the technology sector and was appointed Corporate Communications Director for a number of IT companies including ActiveState, Sophos, and Sxip Identity.

In 2008 she followed her passion for the Okanagan and the wine industry and was hired as Public Relations Director for Mark Anthony's Wine Division including Mission Hill Family Estate Winery. At Mark Anthony, she was responsible for all Mission Hill and Artisan Wine Co. related public relations and events internationally, as well as PR for Mark Anthony's import wines in Canada. During her three year tenure, she initiated a social new media program incorporating blogs and twitter into their communications, and founded a professional events team for the company.

At the beginning of this year she left Mark Anthony to join the boutique winery, Township 7 where she is responsible for all public relations and marketing.

Lori is on the marketing committee of the BC Wine Institute. She is cofounder of VinoCamp, Canada’s first social media wine conference and is the Okanagan liaison for the upcoming International Wine & Food Society’s tri-annual festival. Lori holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and hiking. Lori resides in Summerland, BC and when not traveling on the Coquihalla, she and her husband Mike can be found at their cottage enjoying the sunny south Okanagan.

“Creating fine wine brands requires both exceptional vineyards and people and I am very excited about the addition of Lori to our talent pool, which rounds out the advisory services we’re offering our winery clients across the country,” said Harry McWatters founder Vintage Consulting Group. “Her enthusiasm and creativity in the promotion of BC wines is an excellent addition to our team.”

“I’m thrilled to work with such a Canadian wine industry legend and pioneer. Harry’s four decades of wine experience provide an incredible depth of knowledge to draw from as the founding chairman of so many significant institutions and wineries here such as VQA Canada, the BC Wine Institute and the Okanagan Wine Festival, and of course of Sumac Ridge Estate Winery and See Ya Later Ranch Estate Winery,” said Lori Pike-Raffan. “I am looking forward to working with such a talented team of wine and viticulture experts.”

Vintage Consulting Group was founded by wine industry entrepreneur and pioneer Harry McWatters in 2008. The company serves as a conduit between experts in the wine industry and those seeking to start their own winery or improve upon their existing business. Services offered are winemaking, public relations, market development, and business planning and management by leading lights in the North American wine community such as Tom Dibello, Mark Wendenburg, Ron Taylor, Mark Sheridan, Dick Cleave, Christa Lee McWatters-Bond, and Jurgen Gothe.
