European Cellars appoints Rick Durette as Vice-President of National Sales
European Cellars, a US-based fine wine importer founded by Eric Solomon in 1990, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Durette as Vice-President of National Sales. With over 30 years of diverse experience from wine merchandising in SanDiego to Global Sales Manager for King Estate, Rick impressed us from the first time we met with his forthright and perceptive questions, effective communication style, and knowledge of every aspect of the wine business. Rick has had roles as a senior executive at Jackson Enterprises, Wilson Daniels, Union Wine Company, and Pacific Highway Wines, in addition to his distribution experience with Regal and Young’s Market. From colleagues, we have only heard praise for his knowledge andwork ethic. In addition to becoming a leader for our company, he will be an invaluable resource for our suppliers, distributionpartners, and our retail and restaurant customers.
“I am very excited by the quality of the portfolio that Eric Solomon and Jon-David Headrick have assembled and maintained over the last three decades, and I am eager to use my experience to further the success of this vital import portfolio,” remarkedRick recently.
Asked about the appointment of Rick Durette, European Cellar’s President Robert Davis remarked, “When we began oursearch for a VP of National Sales, we felt we would have to choose either someone with a depth of fine wine sales experience, or a candidate with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of multi-channel sales management, or astrong leader to guide our sales team. In Rick we found all three.”
