Sokol Blosser Bolsters Sales Team
Aug. 30, 2021 – Dayton, OR – Sokol Blosser, one of Oregon’s original and most iconic wineries marking 50 years in 2021, is pleased to announce two changes to their national sales team as they build their business in key markets.
Sokol Blosser welcomes Barron Beltz as Director of Sales for the Central Division. Beltz will lead sales efforts in 15 states including TX, LA, OK, AR, NM, CO, NE, KS, MO, IA, SD, ND, MN, WI and IL.
Beltz began his career in distribution sales in 1992 in Texas with RNDC, before joining Hess Collection and subsequently returning to RNDC as VP of Wine & Spirits in Oklahoma. Beltz later returned to his native Texas to become Sales Director for Folio Wine Partners. He joins Sokol Blosser after a five-year humanitarian mission with his family in Germany.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Barron’s positivity, experience, determination and business savvy join our team,” said Alison Sokol Blosser, CEO and co-president of Sokol Blosser. “His enthusiasm for our wines plus his industry experience and relationships is exactly what we need to expand our presence in the center of our country.”
“The reputation and integrity of the Sokol Blosser family amongst the trade is second to none,” said Beltz. “I’m looking forward to being an active and enthusiastic part of the team and helping more people discover these world-class wines.” Beltz will be based in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX.
Sokol Blosser promoted Emily Zegar to Director of Sales for the Western Division, comprising 11 states (OR, WA, CA, AZ, ID, NV, MT, WY, HI, AK, UT). Emily also will continue leading Sokol Blosser’s export sales in 16 countries.
Emily began her career in the wine industry at Sokol Blosser in 2012 as Cellar Club Coordinator. She left in 2015 to pursue her Masters in Wine Business degree from Australia’s University of Adelaide. After finishing her masters and gaining experience working for a wine business in Hong Kong, Emily served on the Pernod Ricard Wines and Champagne team, first managing the North Texas market and subsequently, Colorado. Emily returned to her roots in Oregon and rejoined the Sokol Blosser team in October of 2019. Emily holds her WSET Level 3 in Wines and Spirits and is currently a WSET Diploma candidate.
“We are very proud of Emily – she is the perfect person to grow our brand across the Western states,” said Alison Sokol Blosser. “Her knowledge and enthusiasm for our wines, our history and our family go deep. Emily also does a terrific job of bringing our wines to tables in international markets through export sales.”
“I love Sokol Blosser’s commitment to sustainability, our organic farming practices, the family and the world-class wines we make,” commented Zegar. “The history and stories behind our wines plus the care and quality that go into each and every bottle and box give me the opportunity to share their authenticity with trade and consumers.”
Both Beltz and Zegar will focus on growing distribution and sales of Sokol Blosser’s signature Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and sparkling wines as well as the winery’s Evolution wines, including the new 1.5-liter boxed wines, the first and only Oregon boxed wines in national distribution.
