Gladys Horiuchi Retires from Wine Institute

Director of Media Relations Director Gladys Horiuchi officially retired on Feb. 15 after 25 years at Wine Institute and has continued to work part-time until a successor could be named. During her time at Wine Institute, she worked closely with news media, helped develop Wine Institute’s first websites at wineinstitute.org and discovercaliforniawines.com, contributed to development of the sustainable winegrowing program and helped promote California wine’s economic impact on the state and nation. She has worked on crisis communications related to wildfires, arsenic in wine misperceptions, facilitating media responses on policy work on tariffs and trade, the environment, labeling and regulations, among many other issues. She began her wine career when she joined the marketing communications staff as a writer at Sebastiani Vineyards, followed by Guild Wineries & Distilleries as a public relations manager. She has been a freelance writer for wine trade publications and wineries. “It has been an honor and privilege to work with Wine Institute members and staff and for an industry that makes a positive contribution to California and the U.S.”
