Kale Anderson Joins Trinitas Cellars as Consulting Winemaker
Napa, California – It is with great enthusiasm that Trinitas Cellars announces and welcomes Kale Anderson to their team as Consulting Winemaker. Kale has been making wine for renowned producers for 20 years in Napa and Sonoma. His career began in 2001, when he took his first harvest internship at J Winery, Russian River. After graduating with a BS in Viticulture and Enology, he worked at Colgin Cellars, Terra Valentine Winery, Cliff Lede Vineyards in Stags Leap District and Pahlmeyer Winery. While Director of Winemaking at Pahlmeyer, Kale became one of the youngest winemakers to earn 100 points from Robert M. Parker, Jr.
Kale began working with Trinitas just before harvest of 2020 and had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the vineyards prior to their first pick. He is inspired by the quality, variety, and unique character of their estate and grower sites, and is looking forward to expressing their terroir in bottle for the 2020 vintage and beyond. “We have a wide variety of vineyards to work with, everything from 100-year-old vines in the sandy soils of Oakley to Cabernet Franc planted in the rugged mountainside of Knights Valley,” says Kale. “Even though 2020 was a very challenging year in our wine community, we were blessed to harvest almost all our fruit. What we harvested was high quality and without any smoke taint, so we are optimistic about where the wines are heading.”
As for how the wines will taste, Kale will craft Trinitas wines with their current brand hallmarks: bold, rich, and approachable. “We have built our business around our particular style, and we know that Kale is going to be able to continue to build upon that, while also focusing on site specific character,” explains Garrett Busch, Proprietor and CEO. “We are very fortunate to have been almost unimpacted by the difficulties of the 2020 vintage, and Kale was able to produce exceptional wines that will undoubtedly be true to the quality and style our customers expect,” he added. “We could not be more pleased with this inaugural set of wines and we eagerly look forward to the vintages to come.”
The first Kale crafted Trinitas wine that will be released is the “2020 Rose, which will be available in our tasting room, to our wholesale accounts, and on our website next year,” reports Sonyia Grabski, General Manager. “From there, we have some exciting 2020 blends in the works that we plan to take to market in 2021 as well.”
