Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits Announces Excecutive Changes

Stamford, CT – January 16, 2018 - Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, a leading importer and marketer of award-winning wines and spirits from around the world, today announced changes to its executive team.

Renato Reyes, who was Chief Marketing Officer for the past seven years will assume the newly-created position of Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, focused primarily on the company’s long-term growth. Former Gallo executive Iain H. Douglas has joined the company as the new Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing the full wine and spirits portfolio.

This is the latest strategic move for Deutsch Family, a company that is experiencing rapid growth, adding more than 50 new roles in the past five years while doubling its profitability. Deutsch Family is in the fourth year of its five-year strategy cycle, where it is exceeding most key performance indicators.

In his new role, Reyes will lead long-term company strategy, identify large acquisition targets and lead their integration. He will remain on the company’s executive team and continue to report to Steffanci.

Douglas will be a member of the executive team and report to Steffanci. Reporting directly to Douglas will be Suzy Kilgore, VP, Spirits Brand Development; Dan Kleinman, VP, Josh Cellars & Layer Cake; Julie Rothberg, Director, Low Lux & Fine Wine Brands; Brett Steen, Associate Director, [ yellow tail ] and Peter Lehmann; Karen Brennan, Director, Public Relations; Jennifer Thomason, Director, Marketing; Joe Wiza, VP, Commercial Planning and Execution. He will be based in the company’s Stamford, Connecticut headquarters.

Throughout his career, Douglas has held key senior roles at major global companies. Most recently he spent seven years as VP of Global Strategy & Brand Development at VF Corporation, a $12 billion business with brands including The North Face, Timberland and Vans. Prior to this, Iain spent nine years at Gallo as Vice President of Marketing, overseeing both the premium and popular portfolios during his tenure, in addition to Trade Marketing. He led the development and implementation of Gallo’s fine wine strategy and wine portfolio expansion, delivering triple digit growth in Gallo’s premium wine brands. Iain began his career at Procter & Gamble where he spent 11 years in Brand Management leadership roles, in Canada, EMEA and then the U.S., where he was Global Director of Beauty Care Innovation.
