Eco Terreno Wines Appoints Rob Izzo as General Manager of Winery and Vineyard Operations
SONOMA, California (September 5, 2017) – Eco Terreno Wines has appointed Rob Izzo as General Manager, overseeing all winery and vineyard operations. Izzo reports directly to Mark Lyon, owner and winemaker of Eco Terreno Wines. Izzo most recently was Director of Sales and Marketing for Wilson Artisan Wineries based in Geyserville. Eco Terreno Vineyards is the largest, single-vineyard operation in Sonoma County certified as biodynamic by Demeter USA.
“I am delighted to have Rob on board as team captain to help us grow Eco Terreno Wines and our biodynamic estate vineyard in Sonoma County. His experience, but more importantly his enthusiasm opens a new chapter for Eco Terreno,” said Lyon in introducing Izzo.
Rob Izzo, General ManagerIzzo began in the classroom teaching information technology classes in Atlanta, Georgia. An interest in organizational development led him to enroll in at the University of Virginia to pursue a Ph.D. in Education Leadership. During his time in graduate school, he explored domestic and international wine growing regions extensively. He developed a deep interest and ardor for wine.
Upon graduating, Izzo moved to Sonoma, California, to begin a career in the wine industry working for Wilson Artisan Wineries in 2012. He was elevated to Director of Sales and Marketing for the nine wineries in 2014.
In addition to his position at Eco Terreno Wines, Izzo serves as a highly esteemed lecturer for Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute and College of Business and Economics.
Eco Terreno Vineyards in Alexander Valley was certified as biodynamic by Demeter USA, and organic by Stellar Certification Services in June 2017. The vineyards were purchased by Mark Lyon and his father in 1980. Eco Terreno Wines was launched in 2012 by Lyon to exemplify the unique site of Eco Terreno Vineyards. Previously, Lyon was the winemaker for Sebastiani Vineyards for 37 years. The wine portfolio from the estate vineyards includes a Cabernet Sauvignon, Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon (40+ year old vines), Three Vine Red, (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot), Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, and “Cuvée Acero” Sauvignon Blanc.
