1865 Welcomes its New Winemaker, Matias Cruzat
Matias Cruzat, who has been working as assistant winemaker for Viña San Pedro’s Premium brands, rises to the challenge of becoming the new Chief Winemaker this month for the prestigious brand 1865.
Matias has had an excellent career at the winery with –amongst other achievements– the recently launched 1865 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014 scoring 92 points in James Suckling’s latest report. The winemaker aims to strengthen the quality credentials of Viña San Pedro’s prestigious brand.
“Being winemaker of 1865 is a huge challenge. It is a renowned brand, internationally recognized for its winemaking excellence. My objective is to continue strengthening the brand, whilst exploring new frontiers and innovating using my knowledge,” says Cruzat.
The new winemaker will continue the search for new viticultural origins in the country, building upon the true, unique homeland that Chile has to offer the world, through the brand 1865.
