About Olabisi Wines

Olabisi Wines was founded in 2002 by husband and wife team Ted Osborne and Kim Wedlake. They are best known for producing award winning, limited release, ultra premium wines from single vineyard sources in and around the Napa Valley. Production runs between 500 and 1000 cases per year, with most of the wine going to mailing list customers only. Current releases include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Petite Sirah.

The name Olabisi comes from an African girls given name meaning “joy multiplied,” which is also the sentiment branded onto the cork in every bottle of wine they produce.

Winemaker Ted Osborne is a veteran of international winemaking, having honed his skills on four continents before deciding to create wines for his family’s Olabisi label. Osborne also consults for other wineries, including Phifer Pavitt, Blue Hall Vineyard, Okapi and Spence Vineyard. Osborne’s resume includes stints in Australia, South Africa, and Bordeaux. His Napa connections started with Cakebread Cellars, Storybook Mountain where he was associate winemaker, and then Piña Napa Valley where he rocketed onto the scene with the launch of their Cabernet program.

Designer Kim Wedlake was responsible for bringing the pair to Napa in 1995, when she landed a job designing wine labels for Colonna Farrell Design in St Helena. So it is no surprise that she creates the stunningly elegant and minimalist packaging for all their Olabisi releases.

The couple currently resides in Calistoga with their two middle-school aged children.

Region: Napa & Sonoma
Job Function: Sales/Marketing
