North Coast judge denies release of wine held in smoke damage case

September 15, 2021

Hugh Reimers' wine is stuck over at Langtry, which sued him and Torick Farms LLC, claiming grapes delivered to the winery had smoke damage, causing $327,000 in damage to redwood tanks and oak barrels. Torick counter-sued, seeking to get the rest of the wine released, noting in court that it had two contracts to sell nearly 22,000 gallons. ... In late May, the judge approved a temporary restraining order sought by Reimers to allow two bulk-wine sale contracts in progress to proceed for that amount. WX Brands apparently backed out of buying nearly 11,000 gallons, but a sale to Bogle for roughly an equal volume was still moving forward at that point.
