In the Finger Lakes, one winery expands by buying another

June 24, 2020

In the six years since Dave and Melissa Pittard bought Buttonwood Grove Winery on Cayuga Lake, they tripled the size of their vineyards and ran out of new acres to plant. That led them on a search for more property to plant wine grapes. Instead, they ended up buying a whole other winery. The Pittards this month completed the purchase of Toro Run Winery, located just down Route 89 from Buttonwood Grove. The two wineries and their vineyards are on either side of the Boathouse Beer Garden, near the Romulus-Ovid town line in Seneca County.
