Trump Winery fires undocumented workers after harvest season

January 02, 2020

Bosses at the Trump Winery - which is overseen by the president's son, Eric Trump - fired at least seven workers on Monday because they didn't have legal immigration status, according to the Washington Post. The terminations came 11 months after several undocumented workers at other Trump properties were let go, and during the Charlottesville, Va., winery's winter downtime. The two fired workers the Post spoke with both claimed that the winery purposely waited until after the difficult fall harvest season - which features 60-hour work weeks and overnight shifts - so they could fire their undocumented workers only when they were less necessary.
