The largest wine industry trade show in the United States opens this week in Sacramento. Cal Expo will host Unified for two years as reconstruction of the Convention Center downtown continues. Organizers announced last week that the event would return to Cal Expo in January 2021 because the Convention Center may not re-open later this year as originally planned. Cal Expo is home to the California State Fair every summer. Next year's Unified Wine and Grape Symposium show dates are: Jan. 12-14, 2021.

France's National Institute of Origin and Quality (INAO), which regulates all French wine appellations, has issued a proposal to welcome 43 Beaujolais villages into the Bourgogne AOC. According to the proposal, 64 municipalities located in areas historically linked to the production of Burgundy wine, would instead be banned from the production of Bourgogne AOC
