Red Mountain is Washington's grand cru region, says Chris Upchurch, owner of Upchurch Vineyard and winemaker for DeLille Cellars. Upchurch built a house on Red Mountain because he got tired of frequently making the 3.5-hour drive from the vineyards to DeLille's winery in Woodinville, a suburb of Seattle. (Woodinville has a HUGE wine scene because most winemakers would rather live near Seattle than near the grapevines.)

On November 26, 2018, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) published an extensive proposed rule that seeks to "reorganize and codify [labeling and advertising] regulations in order to simplify and clarify regulatory standards … and reduce the regulatory burden on industry members where possible." The agency is accepting public comments on the proposal until June 26, 2019.

The USTR has released a list of products - including wine, cheese, aircraft, motorbikes and olive oil - which will be affected by the proposed tariffs. It cites evidence put forward by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) which found that EU subsidies to Airbus have caused "adverse effects to the United States". The USTR estimates that these adverse effects amount to as much as $11 billion in trade each year. Ruling back in May last year, the WTO stated that Airbus had received illegal funding for its A380 and A350 models, adversely affecting Boeing's sales.

UC Cooperative Extension is beginning a dialog with many agencies involved to understand how such tragedies can be prevented in the future. UC Cooperative Extension fire scientists and representatives of many California organizations conduct fire behavior research, study forest treatments - such as prescribed burns, timber harvest and mastication - and share best practices for home and community preparation. In the Butte County area where the Camp Fire took place, cooperating agencies include CalFIRE, the U.S. Forest Service, the Butte County Fire Safe Council, the Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council, Sacramento River Watershed Program, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, the Bureau of Land Management, and others.

The next deadline for Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) applications to be considered for funding this year is May 10, 2019. USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) plans to invest up to $700 million for new enrollments and contract extensions in fiscal year 2019. The 2018 Farm Bill made several changes to this critical conservation program, which helps agricultural producers take the conservation activities on their farm or ranch to the next level.

The Chablis Winegrowers Union (FDAC) has embarked on a €4.8 million project to implement a new methanation system in a bid to improve sustainable practices across the region. Described as a "breakthrough in the move to enhance sustainability in the wine making process", the new methanisation processing area will be located in the South of Chablis where 700 winemakers, belonging to the FDAC, will be able to bring the by-products of wine making to be processed in the system.
