The future Kenefick Ranch winery is slated to be built on a 256-acre property that includes 125 acres planted in vines off Pickett Road. Kenefick Ranch can host visitors by appointment, seven days a week; it also can have up to 12 visitors a day by appointment only; and up to 10 events a year for up to 30 visitors and one for up to 50 guests, according to a staff report.

E&J Gallo Winery, which bought Martini in 2002, has restored the 85-year-old building to make it closer to its original design as the winery came out of Prohibition. Wine writer Amanda Barnes has been awarded the Geoffrey Roberts Award by the Vintners' Company to support the publication of a new wine guide that will highlight South America's "emerging or commercially less important regions", alongside those that are better-known. House Bill 549 passed in the House back in February and Saturday night, the Senate also gave it the green light. The bill would allow people who don't finish their bottle of wine to take it home. Bill sponsors say it's just one more way to help curb New Mexico's DWI problem. To be in compliance with the law, the seller would have to re-cork the bottle and seal it in a tamper-proof bag with the receipt before you leave. That bill now heads to the governor's desk.
