Former Virgin Islands Resident Turned Winemaker Releases No Shoes & Rasta Wines To Benefit USVI Hurricane Relief

September 12, 2017

Long time visitor and six year resident of St. Thomas, Paul Hoffman, announced today that two of his Desert Rock Industries Wine brands will benefit the urgent relief need for the U.S. owned islands in the Caribbean. “I started my wine career in the VI and many of my best friends that I consider family still live there,” said Hoffman. “The No Shoes and Rasta Wine brands were conceived based off of experiences living in my second home, The USVI.”

Starting last Friday, $5 from every bottle or $75 per case of the two wines sold at the winery or online is being donated directly to a relief initiative set up by Hoffman’s colleagues in St. Croix. Hoffman explains, “My friends and former coworkers set up a relief fund to take the most essential supplies to St. Thomas and St. John by boat. We know that all donations will go directly to the Virgin Islands people in the form of water, food, toiletries, medical supplies, and also helping transport those in need off the island.”

Hurricane Irma devastated St. Thomas and St. John last Wednesday with 180mph winds leaving the tiny islands without power, water, and isolated from the outside world. “If you have spent any time in and with the people of Virgin Islands, you know how special this place is,” added the Adopted Islander. “The need for help is extremely urgent and while we are a very small company, we must do our part to help in any way we can.”

In addition to the ongoing wine program, Relief Events will occur at The Desert Rock Winery in Scottsdale this weekend complete with Reggae Music provided by Members of Highest Conspiracy. The Arizona Company is also looking for restaurant and retail partners to collaborate on the No Shoes and Rasta Wine program together.

Desert Rock Industries is a Global Family of Wines, Spirits, and Hard Ciders with nationally/internationally distributed brands (401K and Headbanger), in addition to The Desert Rock Urban Winery/Tasting Room/Wine Education Center in Scottsdale, AZ.
