The V Foundation for Cancer Research Announces 15th Annual V Wine Celebration

Net proceeds from the event to benefit cancer research and awareness programs in California.

(Napa Valley, CA)—The V Foundation for Cancer Research, one of the nation’s leading cancer research funding organizations, is proud to announce the 15th Annual V Foundation Wine Celebration will be held from Thursday, Aug. 1, through Saturday, Aug. 3, in Napa Valley, California. The three-day signature fundraising event will include fine wine tastings, gourmet cuisine, exclusive experiences, live music entertainment as well as live and silent auctions. This year’s event will be hosted by legendary Duke men’s basketball coach Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski and his wife Mickie.

“The V Foundation Wine Celebration is a gathering of family and friends to have a great fun-filled weekend in the beautiful Napa Valley, while at the same time, and most importantly, raising significant funds for quality cancer research," said Bob Lloyd, chairman of The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Over the last 14 years, guided by a dedicated volunteer board and committed staff, The V Foundation Wine Celebration has raised more than $44 million for more than 40 promising research programs at medical and research facilities throughout California. Notable facilities include the Martin O’Neil Cancer Center at St. Helena Hospital, Napa’s Queen of the Valley Wellness Center, Stanford and UC San Francisco.

This year’s event will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 1, with exclusive “Winery Dinners” hosted by proprietors at various vineyards. On Friday, Aug. 2, guests will enjoy a Bentley Driving Experience followed by Presidents Club & Vintner Grant Honoree Luncheon at the Napa Valley Reserve and a Riedel Wine Tasting. There will also be an “All-Stars of Research” celebration featuring renowned restaurateurs, preeminent vintners and a custom barrel auction. Saturday, August 3, will begin with a Cancer Research Symposium hosted by members of The V Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board followed by an Innovators & Icons Marketplace event with wine and fine food from local purveyors. Saturday evening, guests are invited to experience world-class auctions and a lavish dinner at Nickel & Nickel Winery, hear a motivational speech from Mike Krzyzewski and enjoy a private performance by Oscar- and Grammy award- winning rock singer and guitarist, Melissa Etheridge.

The 15th Anniversary V Foundation Wine Celebration will also feature a “Choose Your Porsche” raffle. Participants will be entered for a chance to win either a 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera, 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS or a 2013 Porsche Panamera valued at up to $120,000. Only 325 tickets will be sold at $1,000 each. Participants do not need to be present for the drawing on Saturday, Aug. 3, to win.
