PR: Laird Buys Silverado Hill Winery

adds a third custom crush facility
January 28, 2013

Press Release - Since 1970, the Laird family has been a leader in Napa Valley. With over 2000 acres of vineyard holdings, Laird Family Estate winery, two custom crush facilities, and a 2.6 million gallon bulk wine storage facility, Laird has continued a legacy of growth and evolution over decades.

In an effort to meet expansion needs, Laird has recently acquired Silverado Hill Winery. This acquisition adds a third custom crush facility to the Laird operation. Currently, Laird offers custom crush services at Laird Family Estate, located at 5055 Solano Ave in Napa and Andretti Winery, located at 4162 Big Ranch Road in Napa. In total, the three facilities will bring Laird's crush capacity to over 6000 tons.

Silverado Hill Winery was established in 1979. The winery has most recently been used for custom crush operations, namely Crushpad, from 2009-2011. The property boasts 25 acres of estate vineyard, an established tasting room, 117,000 gallons of stainless cooperage, and a state-of-the-art bottling line. Located on the Silverado Trail, Silverado Hill Winery is the second winery visitors see traveling north on this famous wine route.

With this new acquisition, the additional space will allow current custom crush clients to not only increase production, but also enjoy the added benefit of a planned collective tasting studio with marketable presence on Silverado Trail.

"Our family is excited about this new acquisition. Expanding our custom crush operation to three facilities, we are fulfilling an industry need of additional storage, crush and fermentation. We are also adding a valuable service to our clients; a state-of-the-art collective hospitality center." Rebecca Laird, General Manager, Laird Family Estate.
