Effects of Heat and Water Stress Experts to Speak in Napa on March 27

Napa, Calif.—Now in its 10th year, the Sustainable Vineyard Practices series continues to introduce and combine new research with practical tools and applications used in sustainable farming. To kick off the 2020 series, NVG welcomes Washington State University’s Distinguished Professor of Viticulture, Dr. Markus Keller, and Postdoctoral Associate of the Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center, Dr. Ben-Min Chang. They will lead discussions about heat and water stresses in the vineyard, an apropos topic for the 2020 growing season so far.

The discussion will provide technical research focusing on:
- Responses to water deficit by more than a dozen wine grape varieties presented by Dr. Markus Keller
- A thought-provoking discussion on the interactions of water and heat stress in the vineyard presented by Dr. Ben-Min Chang
Sustainable Vineyard Practices 2 will be Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Attendees will hear the results of NVG’s 2019 Wages & Benefits Survey, an annual tool used to collect vineyard labor practices and compensation throughout Napa Valley. The survey is conducted and presented by UC Davis Professor of Economics and Director, Temporary Migration Cluster, Dr. Giovanni Peri.
