Malene Wines Kicks Off Summer With Series of Rosé Pop-Ups in the Gardens of The CIA at Copia

Malene's Mobile Tasting Room, a One-of-a-Kind Vintage Airstream Trailer, Will Roll Into Downtown Napa for Three Consecutive Weekends.

San Luis Obispo, Calif. (May 1, 2019)—Malene Wines, dedicated exclusively to becoming a quality leader in producing Provençal-style rosé from California’s Central Coast, is hitting the road this summer with a custom-built vintage Airstream trailer and mobile tasting room for a series of events and pop-ups. The first events of the season will be three weekend Rosé Pop-Ups in the gardens of The CIA at Copia, The Culinary Institute of America’s epicurean destination in downtown Napa.

The Malene Rosé Pop-Ups at The CIA at Copia will begin the weekend of the BottleRock music festival, May 24 – May 26, and will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The pop-ups will continue through the next two weekends on Saturday and Sunday only: June 1 - 2 and June 8 - 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests will be able to enjoy the new 2018 vintage of all three of Malene’s distinct rosés –Malene Rosé, Rosé of Mourvèdre, and Old Vine Grenache Rosé. The wines will be available for purchase from The CIA at Copia as a flight ($12) or by the glass ($10-$14). Guests can also purchase bottles of their favorite Malene rosé (prices range from $22 to $35) to take home or to enjoy in the gardens for a small added corkage fee.

While enjoying Malene rosé, guests can spend time relaxing in the gardens, playing a round of bocce or cornhole, or exploring some of the newest exhibits at The CIA at Copia. Food will be available for purchase from a new outdoor eatery, Grove, located adjacent to the culinary gardens, as well as from Contimo Provisions, so guests can pair Malene rosé with a seasonal sandwich, pizza or barbecue. Malene Wines will also host giveaways with fun branded prizes and to celebrate International Rosé Day on June 8, Malene Rosé will be featured in The CIA at Copia’s seminar, “Somm's Class: It's PINK Season”, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.

“The original Malene Airstream was a huge hit and we are very excited to kick off the unofficial start of rosé season by bringing our second Airstream, which we call ‘Mini-Malene,’ to downtown Napa in partnership with The CIA at Copia,” said Fintan du Fresne, winemaker for Malene Wines. “It’s a perfect match -- fine wine, delicious food, and a beautiful wine country setting!”

Reminiscent of the ’60s surf scene, the Mini-Malene vintage Airstream was sourced, rebuilt and customized specifically for Malene Wines. A fresh approach to the tasting room concept, the Airstream serves rosé on tap and can easily hit the road to attend festivals and events. The addition of Mini-Malene has allowed for Malene’s first, original Airstream trailer to become a popular and more permanent, year-round tasting room located in Edna Valley on the Central Coast.
