Luxury XO Rum Introduced by Kirk & Sweeney

Posted on December 04, 2019

Sonoma, Calif.— Kirk & Sweeney, the barrel-aged rum from 3 Badge Beverage Corporation, is entering the luxury category this month in select markets with the introduction of Kirk & Sweeney XO. Kirk & Sweeney rums are handcrafted in Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic.

The production of Kirk & Sweeney XO ($229/750ml; 131 proof, 65.5% ABV) begins with blackstrap molasses from hand-harvested sugarcane grown just south of the distillery. The liquid is carefully fermented and distilled and then aged long term in American oak barrels before being bottled at cask strength. The rum adheres to the very strict regulations that allow it to be called Dominican Rum. This ultra-premium rum shows a highly polished, deep amber color with light golden hues. Layers of dried fruits and oak dominate the nose, while the palate has toasted oak and vanilla flavors with hints of raisin, sherry and spice.

“This is the ultimate luxury in barrel-aged rum,” noted August Sebastiani, president of 3 Badge Beverage Corporation. “Kirk & Sweeney XO is a very limited production release that has been meticulously crafted and aged. It offers an unparalleled sensory experience for barrel-aged rum aficionados.”

Kirk & Sweeney XO comes in handmade crystal glass inspired by the traditional bottles used during the rum-running era of the early 20 th century. The bottle lies in an elegant gift box that was inspired by an old captain’s reserve cigar box of rich mahogany, with antique nautical maps of the main rum smuggling route printed inside.

Kirk & Sweeney is enjoying strong sales this year, up 12.4% according to Nielsen. The new XO rum joins a Kirk & Sweeney line that includes 23-, 18-, and 12-year aged bottlings, with Kirk & Sweeney 23-Year sales up nearly 20% this year.

Kirk & Sweeney is available from 3 Badge Mixology, the spirits division of 3 Badge Beverage Corporation. The company is located at 32 Patten Street, Sonoma, CA 95476. The telephone number is (707) 996-8463. Learn more at
