Guarachi Wine Partners Launches New Chilean Luxury Wine Brand VIK

Posted on September 13, 2018

(LOS ANGELES, CA) September 2018 – Guarachi Wine Partners is pleased to welcome wine industry leader VIK into the family as part of the company’s next unique and innovative luxury brand. Beginning January 2019, Guarachi Wine Partners will represent the complete portfolio for sales, marketing and distribution throughout the U.S.

Since 1985, Alex Guarachi’s forward-thinking vision has been to passionately introduce South American wines to the U.S. market. He established himself as a Chilean wine visionary by helping make Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and Argentine Malbec household names. Guarachi’s Chilean upbringing and deep roots in the wine industry have allowed South American wines to flourish in the U.S. by creating a new market for consumers that was once considered niche but is now mainstream. In 2007, Guarachi founded Guarachi Family Wines, his own label of extremely limited bottlings sourced from micro-lots within Estate vineyards from the most prestigious appellations– Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast and Napa Valley. In 2010, Wine Enthusiast honored Guarachi as Importer of the Year, a testament to his hard work and dedication to changing the industry. Guarachi’s passion for identifying wine trends, 33+ years of global importing and marketing of wines merged with a decade of boutique winemaking for Guarachi Family Wines lead to the creation of a new South American luxury brand division, as the next evolution of Chilean wines for the U.S. consumer.

Guarachi Wine Partners’ current lineup of South American wines is well represented in Chile and Argentina with heritage brands such as Bodega Norton, Santa Ema, Kaiken, and King Malbec. Chile is the seventh largest country of origin for wine imports to the U.S., known for its quality and reasonable prices, and therefore great value as it relates to consumers.

“I’ve always had a special interest in following the changing trends of the South American wine landscape over the decades,” said Alex Guarachi, CEO and Founder of Guarachi Wine Partners. “VIK is unlike anything I’ve seen from South America – their winemaking, philosophy, innovation and overall quality will rival First Growths from Bordeaux – which is why I’m very excited for this partnership.”

VIK, founded in 2004 by Norwegian entrepreneur Alexander Vik and his wife Carrie, set out to create a holistic vineyard with award-winning wines to rival the very best in the world. After two years of extensive scientific research, Vik chose the Valley of Millahue (meaning “Place of Gold”), to build an amazing state-of-the-art winery, vineyard, retreat and luxury hotel that embodies the perfect fusion between man, experience, land, climate, art and technology. With previous releases having achieved 90+ ratings, VIK’s goals are set very high with a mission of making the best wine in South America and to enter the pantheon of the best wines in the world. VIK currently offers three wines: Milla Cala, La Piu Belle and VIK, all estate grown blends that rival the exceptional quality of first growth châteaux.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Guarachi Wine Partners. Their 33+ successful years in this industry is proof that they fully understand our market and how to represent VIK in the U.S.,” said Alex Vik, Founder of VIK wines.
