Description: The American Fine Wine Competition is proud to announce, "Sipping through America", a social event like no other, allowing South Florida wine lovers to taste some of the finest wines America has to offer.
This is the 12th year the American Fine Wine Competition has brought together some of the best wines produced in America. The AFWC is the largest all-American Wine Invitational in the country. It is held annually at Florida International University Biscayne Bay Campus, Chaplin School of Hospitality.
This year is looking to be bigger than ever, bringing together about 1,000 wines from more than 200 wineries. Chardonnays to Syrah, Cabernet to Albarino, Roussanne to Zinfandels. Wines from California, Ohio, Washington, New York, Michigan, Virginia, Oregon and Texas to name a few. No other event brings the best wines in the country together like this.
On Sunday January 20th, Sipping through America will be held on the FIU Campus. Starting at 6:00 pm guests can experience wines from every corner of this country. Most guests will never have the opportunity to try wines from some of the most exclusive vineyards. Not because they can't afford it but because of the mere diversity of the competition. Sipping through America will be an amazing journey for the palate.
Sipping Through American is from 6-9PM, following the first day of the Judging. The public (and media) is invited to grab a glass and taste hundreds of wines! This will be accompanied by a dozen local restaurants and food purveyors including Ortanique, Suviche, ZEST, A Flair For Fudge, Whoopie Pies, Novecento, Chef Stefano and many more.
Over the past 12 years AFWC has raised over $1,000,000 for various local charities. This year will be no different. Monies raised this year will benefit the Chip Cassidy Endowment Fund which supports students interested in pursuing a career in the wine industry.
