Description: The fourth annual VinCO winemaking and grape growing trade conference returns Jan. 14-16 in Grand Junction, with a diverse lineup of national experts leading seminars on grape growing, winemaking and business development.

The three-day confab is designed to give attendees real-life skills to make better wine, grow better grapes, and sell more of both. Visiting experts include Gordon Burns from ETS in Napa; Tim Donahue, an instructor of enology at Walla Walla Community College; and Bill Skrapits, owner of Premier Wine Blends (Austin, Texas).

VinCO 2014 is organized by the Colorado Association for Viticulture and Enology, the non-profit, member-based organization behind the Colorado wine industry. It is hosted at the Two Rivers Convention Center in conjunction with the Western Colorado Horticulture Society & Trade Show.

Dr. Terence Robinson, Cornell University (NY) department of horticulture

While VinCO is an industry-focused event, it will feature one public event, the screening of Progression: The Evolving Story of Colorado Wine at 5 p.m. on Jan. 14 at Mesa Theater in downtown Grand Junction. This documentary was commissioned by the industry to take an honest look at the growth and history of local wine. Tickets are $20 to the public and includes food.
