Tsillan Cellars is seeking seasonal harvest cellar help to join our small Lake Chelan, Washington team for the 2025 vintage. At Tsillan Cellars we specialize in high quality, small lot winemaking with fruit from our 32-acre estate vineyard as well as sourcing from the best growers in the state. We were established in 2000 and currently produce 10,000 cases of hands on, high quality, high integrity wine that is all sold DTC. Candidates should be of high integrity, trustworthy, enthusiastic, self-motivated, willing and able to learn. Candidates need to be dependable in a fast-paced environment. Harvest employees will work directly with and report to the head winemaker, assistant winemaker and should be ready to participate in all aspects of cellar work, lab assistance, vineyard sampling and wine production.
Time Frame: Mid-August to Late-November, may be adjusted based on harvest conditions and performance. With a flexible opportunity to work through December to experience post-harvest processes and winemaking operations. For the right candidate there could be an opportunity to start much sooner. Applicants should be ready to work all necessary hours. The fruit and job duties will dictate our schedule. In the peak of harvest, it could be 7 days a week 12-14 hour days. (potentially)
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
--Assisting with day-to-day harvest activities
--Cellar hygiene: Cleaning and sanitation of crush equipment, tanks, and winery facilities
--Pressing, crushing, and destemming fruit
--Daily punch downs and pumpovers
--Morning brix and temperature measurements
--Must/juice additions nutrients and yeast hydration
--Vineyard and lab sampling assistance
--Barrel work: racking, barrel downs, topping
—Did I mention cleaning and more cleaning?
This position requires physical activity. Candidates should expect to be on their feet, sitting/ squatting/ standing/ bending / climbing/ carrying/ pushing/ grasping/ pulling.
Position Requirements:
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and ability to work 10+ hours on your feet, including weekends and overtime as required
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- An Appreciation for all weather conditions
- Must be willing to comply with any health and safety regulations as needed
- Must follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures
- Ability to work on a team, as well as independently
- Maintain positive attitude and open communication
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Must be authorized to work in the US
Desired Qualifications:
--Degree or certificate in a V & E or science related field a plus, but not required
--Curiosity and enthusiasm for winemaking
--Prior harvest or winemaking experience preferred
--Forklift skills a plus, but not necessary
Duration/Compensation/Benefits:
--Aug 2025 - End of Nov. 2025 (Depending on Harvest)
--Compensation is $20-$24 per hour DOE
