Looking for a personable and knowledgeable Wine Specialist for wine shop that has been in business over 20 years!

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for wine, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering top-notch customer service. As a Wine Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our customer experience, helping to educate and guide customers while creating an inviting, approachable atmosphere. This position is customer facing and the candidate should have a passion for customer service. You will have an opportunity to plan and execute tastings and an opportunity to perform outreach to the surrounding community. This position will be expected to taste and evaluate wines for the shop. There will be some fun opportunities to have input on branding in the near future.

Responsibilities:

Customer Service: Provide friendly, informed, and personalized service to customers, assisting with wine selection, food pairings, and recommendations based on individual tastes and preferences.

Wine Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on the latest wine trends, new arrivals, and industry insights. Share your knowledge with customers in a clear, engaging manner, whether they are beginners or seasoned wine enthusiasts.

Wine Buying: Assist buyer in evaluating and making decisions on which wines should come into the shop.

Inventory Management: Assist in the organization and stocking of wine, ensuring shelves are well-maintained and the selection is clearly presented.

Tastings and Events: Assist in hosting wine tastings, private events, and educational seminars to engage customers and promote the wine selection.

Sales: Help drive sales by suggesting complementary products and highlighting premium selections or limited editions.

Customer Education: Lead by example in fostering a welcoming atmosphere where customers feel comfortable asking questions and learning more about wine.

Requirements:

Previous experience in the wine industry, retail, or hospitality preferred but not required.

Strong passion for wine and the ability to articulate wine details clearly and confidently.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

A desire to learn and share knowledge with others in an engaging and approachable way.

Attention to detail and ability to maintain an organized, clean, and visually appealing shop.

Must be 21 years of age and able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to obtain a pour permit.

This position needs someone who can work Friday and Saturdays 11 AM to 7 PM. If you are someone who can ONLY work full time, please contact us as I have the ability to make that work if it is a requirement. Full time hours would be Tuesday through Saturday with Sundays and Mondays off.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification from a wine education program (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers) or a strong personal commitment to ongoing wine education.

Experience in hosting wine events or tastings.

Knowledge of food pairings and culinary trends.
