Job Description:

Maxville Estate Winery is a hidden gem located to the east of Napa Valley's floor, at an elevation of 1,000 feet, in one of Napa Valley's 16 sub AVAs known as Chiles Valley. This land is referred to as "The High Valley," or the "Valley of Oaks". Situated on 1000 acres, we are committed to producing premium luxury wines that represent the terroir and "sense of place". Planted to all five of the main red Bordeaux varietals, along with Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc, this is an ideal fit for candidates seeking to work with an Estate project as well as some of the Valley's top vineyards and clients through custom crush. We are pursuing motivated and driven candidates that are seeking mentorship and future growth potential, with the desire to join an up and coming winery striving to craft the very best wines each and every vintage.

Key Responsibilities:
Cellar operations including but not limited to:

General:
•  Supervision of cellar staff
•  Oversee all wine movements
•  Manages quality and professionalism of all cellar operations
•  In conjunction with WM & AW, develops and maintains cellar SOPs to ensure quality steps and risk aversion are built into all production systems and processes.
•  Ensures employees are trained on SOPs and have the appropriate skills, knowledge, tools and supervision necessary to perform the tasks at hand
•  Conducts on-going assessments of cellar operations to ensure quality goals are met or exceeded.
•  Barrel inventory management
•  Assist in planning all aspects of harvest
•  Assist with bottling activities
•  Promotes and implements sustainable practices
•  Complete the jobs requested by AM or WM in a timely, safe and professional manner
•  Manages overall sanitation, appearance and safety of cellar
•  Work with cellar team on various tasks ensuring the jobs are completed in a safe, timely and professional manner.

Safety: (in conjunction with AW)
•  Become familiar with winery IIPP and safety programs
•  Ensure the enforcement and adherence to all OSHA and AWE safety policies, procedures and guidelines
•  Ensures all employees are protected from hazards in the cellar work environment.
•  Provides effective safety training including monthly safety meetings and pre-harvest safety meetings
•  Maintains proper safety records
•  Maintains all safety binders
•  Uses continuous self-audit systems to identify potential hazards and unsafe activity. Ensures timely solutions to eliminate, isolate or minimize hazards.
•  Conducts monthly safety walk through
•  Manage OSHA relations

Winery Maintenance:
•  Ensure cellar equipment and facility is in optimal working condition in order to meet winery production needs. Includes ensuring proper use and care of equipment by cellar employees, and communicating maintenance needs and priorities
•  Inventory Management- ensure that cellar supplies, materials and equipment are on hand to support department functions, including all chemicals, materials, etc.
•  Taking a sense of ownership and making sure winery is always clean and safe
•  Track chemicals and respective MSDS sheets
•  Inform WM when equipment needs to be replaced and/or repaired
•  Maintain and schedule service for all winery equipment

•  Must maintain a positive and optimistic attitude in the workplace

Experience:
•  High school diploma required
•  B.S. in Enology preferred
•  5+ years of full time cellar experience
•  Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
