Our leadership team is currently looking for professionals that carry an earnest desire to contribute to an elite team, can remain adaptive, and possess a genuine interest in relationship-based luxury sales.

Position Summary:

The Director of Membership role is vital to the success of our primarily DTC business. While SMV has a membership program dating back 20 years, we are positioning the brand for its next iteration of membership. What this new membership will look and feel like to members past and present is the primary responsibility of this role. As such, this role is tasked with the ideation, implementation, and execution of various member related programs/initiatives that drive membership growth. In addition, this role has a direct report in the Membership & Fulfillment Manager position. The Director of Membership will manage this role and ensure the department as a whole is running smoothly and efficiently. Lastly, this role will work together with the Estate Director in ensuring the membership program is a primary driver of the overall DTC business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•  Develop and implement a best-in-the-valley membership growth and retention strategy.
•  Member program ideation, implementation, and execution.
•  Creating and tracking of membership growth strategies and initiatives.
•  Regular monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting
•  Assistance with P&L management from the membership perspective.
•  Successful candidates should possess exceptional DTC leadership and team management skills, a proven track record for meeting/exceeding sales goals, financial acumen and budgetary experience and the ability to create and maintain constructive relationships in the digital channel.
•  Be a thought leader for the entire company in partnership with Estate Director, CEO, and ownership.
•  Manage all outsourced services including fulfillment, compliance, etc.
•  Work in tandem with our outsourced digital marketers and developers.
•  Foster cross-department cohesion under the Hospitality umbrella, e.g., work with Hospitality Director and Business Developer to ensure follow-through and success of our member programs
•  Help establish SMV as the leading DTC company in the industry.
•  Effectively manage direct reports
•  Assist with on-site events.
•  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

•  2-4 years of college/university education or equivalent.
•  5+ years in a winery membership leadership role, preferably as Director.
•  Exceptional organization and prioritization skills. Someone who can self-manage and prioritize workload to attain business goals.
•  Enthusiasm for the Napa Valley DTC industry, with strong ties to the “membership professional community.”
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, POS/CRM systems, email/text marketing programs, ShipCompliant, and fulfillment software.
•  General knowledge of compliance environment in the DTC industry.
•  Experience in developing, planning, and executing member events.
•  Must be willing and available to work occasional weekends and member events.
•  Possess a team-oriented mentality when it comes to shared duties, sales goals, and objectives.
•  Possess initiative, drive, and willingness to rise to the occasion.
•  Must possess a strong grasp of what it takes to run a financially successful membership program.
•  Ideal candidates have a desire to push the industry forward by creating innovative programs that challenge the status-quo.
•  Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.
•  A valid driver’s license.
•  Must be 21 years of age.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

•  Full body mobility
•  Able to operate a motor vehicle
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
•  Exceptional communication skills: Proficiency in verbal, written, and body language communication is essential. Candidates must present themselves in a professional manner and have the ability to read, write, and speak in English at a college level.
•  High-demand work environment: This role requires sustained focus, awareness, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
