Position Summary: In coordination with the Bottling Supervisor, responsible for day-to-day bottling line activities in accordance with cellar and bottling operational policies.
Schedule: Four 10-hour workdays (Mon-Thurs). Sliding 2nd Shift when needed. Schedule may vary, some overtime required. Typical Sliding Shift Hours: Day Shift 5:00 am – 3:30 pm | Extended Shift 10:00 am – 9:00 pm | Second Shift 3:30 pm – 2:00 am
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• In coordination with the Bottling Supervisor, assists with staff schedules and shift supervision in all bottling activities, including running all equipment; filler, corker, labeler, case packer and capsule machine, according to safety policies and procedures.
• Schedules, monitors and tracks the work hours of bottling employees
• Ensures adequate glass and supplies are on hand to support bottling daily plan.
• Interfaces with cellar, lab and warehouse to ensure wine and supplies are readily available.
• Assists with facilitating and scheduling of facility/equipment repairs with the Maintenance Department.
• Verifies all supplies are correct and proper tank is being bottled from for daily run.
• Submits purchase orders for all supplies ordered.
• Receives and enters all bottling materials into inventory system.
• Takes daily inventory using forms and software system of all bottling supplies used before and after bottling.
• Acts as back up to the Lab to check fill points and perform quality checks on bottling line.
• Performs all levels of bottling line and equipment operation when necessary.
• Trains both full time and temporary bottling staff in Bottling Line safety and Operations.
• Trains staff on ISO/HACCP and keeps company logs up to date.
• Ensures proper equipment use, maintenance, and storage for all bottling equipment.
• Works with the Bottling Supervisor to ensure all mandatory safety programs are up-to-date and ongoing, and staff is compliant.
• Promotes teamwork with all winery personnel.
• Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skills:
• 3+ years packaging equipment operating experience.
• 3+ years management/supervisory experience in a process environment.
• Lift truck and clamp certified or certifiable.
• Experience enforcing good safety practices and following all safety regulations.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of a packaging operation.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and document workflow.
• Demonstrated ability to allocate resources of personnel and equipment to see that production tasks are performed in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
• A good understanding of quality control is an advantage.
Requirements:
• Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
• Ability to walk, stand and sit, sometime for prolonged periods of time.
