Scheid Family Wines has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at our winery campus in Greenfield, CA.

In addition to our flagship Scheid Vineyards brand, we produce and market a portfolio of global brands, including Ryder Estate, District 7, VDR, and Sunny with a Chance of Flowers, plus other regional and national private label brands.

SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing vineyard compliance, winery and bottling QA/QC and food safety programs in collaboration with all departments to support the production of high-quality grapes, wine and finished goods. This position will lead a team of vineyard compliance, QA and food safety technicians and reports to the Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Oversee vineyard regulatory and certification compliance programs (GlobalG.A.P., Organic, SIP, CCSW, BBC, DoT, Hazardous Waste, etc.)
•  Oversee plant regulatory and certification compliance (FSMA, BRCGS, Organic, CCSW, etc.)
•  Subject matter expert in areas of regulatory and certification compliance
•  Facilitate the completion of internal and external audits and inspections
•  Facilitate the training of all required departments in related food safety and quality areas
•  Oversee the development and implementation of vineyard compliance, food safety and finished goods quality control program
•  Support the development of new product and processes while ensuring quality and food safety standards are met
•  Facilitate the chemical and physical testing of all incoming, in process, and outgoing products
•  Responsible for hiring, training and developing QA personnel
•  Supervise, lead, and coach a team of 5-7 staff
•  Provide technical services to other operating departments when required
•  Develop testing methods to control the quality of new products
•  Involved in research and development as needed
•  Serve as a member of the HACCP team
•  Follow all GMPs related to BRC and ensure work area meets food safety standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•  5+ years of related management experience in the food/beverage manufacturing environment
•  3+ years of experience managing GFSI certified QA and Food Safety program
•  3+ years of experience supervising employees and managing teams
•  Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process and understand winemaking regulatory requirements preferred
•  Experience with all aspects of harvest, fermentation, cellar work, and winemaking analysis preferred
•  Valid driver license

REQUIRED SKILLS
•  LANGUAGE - Must possess excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills, fluent in English, both verbal and written
•  TECHNICAL – Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to learn other related computer programs & databases
•  APTITUDE- Excellent math skills and accuracy with numbers and strong recordkeeping skills along with a working knowledge of data collection and data analysis

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•  Standing, sitting, walking in the following settings: laboratory, office, winery, bottling production area, warehouse facility
•  Use of arms and hands for using telephone, computer, and lab/winemaking equipment
•  Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch
•  Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
•  Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
