Under the direction of the Facilities Director, performs gardening activities including daily care and maintenance of the landscaping; and monitoring and maintaining the health of the plants, vegetation and lawn area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Applies fertilizers, transplants flowers and plants; and irrigates grounds
Maintains health and aesthetic appearance of lawn and foliage
Cleans grounds by keeping debris and fallen leaves off driveways, winery walkways and other public areas
Mows lawns; trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls; prunes shrubs and trees
Maintains tools to increase longevity
Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts
Checks irrigation system to ensure proper operation
Prepares and grades terrain and seeds and lays sod for lawn, as needed
Adheres to safety regulations and policies; reports any potential safety issue to supervisor or the Safety Coordinator
Eventual supervisory position if qualified.

Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify. A high school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations
Valid California Class “C” Driver’s License is required.
