WINE PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE
Lava Cap Winery is a winery located in El Dorado County. We are seeking a permanent, full time cellar worker (hourly position) to add to our team. Applicant must be able to demonstrate high attention to detail, awareness of job safety, the ability to complete tasks according to instruction, a strong work ethic and a willingness to be a key member of our winery. Performs various work assignments to include: racking, pumping, clarifying and blending of juice and wine. Operates and cares for tanks, barrels, pumps, presses, hoses and other cellar equipment. Assists in all phases of winemaking processes as well as care, maintenance, and sanitation of all equipment and facilities. Oversees and manages bottled good inventory.
Job Responsibilities and duties:
-Takes great care and responsibility for the quality of work and wine produced
-Performs all aspects of cellar work.
-Performs wine movements such as racking, transfers, and filling; barrel work, stacking, topping, washing, and maintenance; tank sanitation and preparation, forklift operation; cleaning and maintenance of cellar; purging and gassing of tanks; filtration of wines and chemical additions and stirring and topping of wines.
-Performs movement of dry goods and case goods via box truck & forklifting.
-Operates, cleans and maintains cellar and harvest equipment; maintains knowledge of all wine pumps and harvest equipment and how they work.
-Bottling sanitation processes.
-Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
-Performs other duties as assigned by winemaker and management.
-Performs bottling line operation and preparation for bottling.
-Unload pallet/floor loaded inbound containers.
-Manage inventory, including monthly audits of packaged packing material.
-Move product between tasting room and warehouse.

-Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
-Good written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to calculate and convert figures correctly.
-Ability to move and/or lift 60 pounds.
-Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
-Willingness to operate a forklift. Previous forklift experience a plus.
-Must be able to speak and write English proficiently.
-Ability to operate and maintain machinery including bottling line.
-Candidate must be physically able to stand for long periods of time and walk/climb on uneven and wet surfaces.
-Walk, kneel, bend, stand, taste, smell.
-Regularly required to move or lift 60lbs.
-Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor cellar in all types of weather.
-The candidate will work near moving machinery parts and will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.
-Noise levels are usually moderate to loud.
Attendance/Schedule: M-Th, 4 days a week, 10 hours a day. Must have flexibility with scheduling, willing to work various days. Will require occasional overtime and weekend work during harvest as needed. Position to begin immediately. Lava Cap offers a generous compensation package, including medical and dental benefits.
