Position Summary:

Oakville Grocery - founded in 1881 - is the oldest continually operating grocery store in California. Since Its opening, Oakville Grocery has been a destination for locals and visitors alike. With our renovation, we have reconnected to our California roots, offering a highly curated selection of the best products from farmers, artisans and purveyors in Napa and Sonoma Wine Country.

The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator, Oakville Wine Merchant position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing job duties to quality and productivity standards. We are in search of a highly motivated individual whom is passionate about organization and is excited about growth and opportunity.

Essential Functions:

•  Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Receives and processes all defective items returned for replacement or credit.

•  Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

•  Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.

•  Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.

•  Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping coordinator by final inspection via the shipping instructions.

•  Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor.

•  Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.

•  Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.

•  Required to make pick-ups and deliveries to our suppliers for parts and raw materials.

•  Communicate ordering needs and supply/equipment problems to Chef and/or Sous Chef.

•  Divide and properly store deliveries as soon as receiving is completed.

•  Follow proper food storage practices; label, date, and wrap all items.

•  Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff and clientele.

•  Proven track record of increasing sales and managing costs.

•  Maintains a positive and motivated attitude when working with customers and fellow employees.

•  Maintains a positive attitude during high stress situations. Shows respect for others.

Additional Functions:

•  Comply with all company safety policies, practices, and procedures. Participate in safety training and report all unsafe conditions or work practices.

•  Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

•  Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

•  Indoor/Outdoors. Moderate noise levels typical of public space: music sound system, public conversations, telephones/cell phones, large groups.

Schedule and Travel Requirements

•  This position is FT. Variable schedule; may require weekends, periodic evenings, and/or periodic or seasonal overtime.
