Job Description:

Summary: Under the direction of the President this person is primarily responsible for grower (member) and buyer account development, winegrape sales & negotiations, and general industry outreach and communication.

Region: Assigned territory within the northern San Joaquin Valley and Delta (CDFA Crush Districts 11, 12 & 17)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
•  Acquire and effectively maintain grower-member accounts
•  Develop long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with California grape buyers
•  Realize company’s regional goals & objectives with regard to sales volume & value
•  Represent the company in a professional, knowledgeable and reliable manner
•  Negotiate with winegrape buyers of all sizes and with personnel at various organizational levels
•  Negotiate and draft favorable grape purchase agreements
•  Liaise grower-members and buyers regarding viticulture concerns/expectations
•  Develop new business opportunities from both supply and demand perspectives
•  Share information & maintain continuously open lines of communication with growers and buyers
•  Effectively communicate winegrape market conditions and other industry concerns to stakeholders
•  Provide direction and input for the continual improvement of member quality and profitability
•  Participate on and with regional industry groups, committees, boards or commissions
•  Pre-qualify, hire and manage subordinates, where applicable (i.e., seasonal employees)

Qualifications & Abilities:
•  Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Business, Viticulture/Enology or related field
•  Minimum two (2) years in grower relations, viticulture, and/or vineyard consulting preferred
•  Minimum two (2) years of sales and management experience preferred
•  Display a high level of organization and detail orientation
•  Familiarity with, and belief in, the cooperative business model
•  Possess a willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
•  Possess self-guided initiative and effective manager of time/priorities
•  Possess a working knowledge of various desktop computing applications & electronic communications
•  Desire and ability to speak publicly, providing information to private parties, groups and the press
•  Ability to motivate subordinates for highly productive performance
•  Ability to deal with multiple personalities in a professional setting
•  Ability to manage the sustainability of a territory with little direct supervision
•  Ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team
•  Ability to exercise discretion with confidential information
•  Ability to multi-task, handling simultaneous and various demands under the constraint of time
•  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
•  Valid California driver’s license and clean DMV record
