Job Description:

Under the guidance of the Winemaker, write daily work orders to prepare 3rd party winemaking teams for all pertinent steps from grape arrive through fermentation stages of harvest, including lab requests communicating to 3rd party teams.
Daily juice / wine tasting at 3rd party locations and participate in pro-active winemaking to ensure wine health.
Daily data collection from 3rd party labs and update lot data sheets.
Requires independently driving to inspect 2-3 locations daily, six days per week.
Coordinate juice and wine shipping including 3rd party and trucking vendor management.
Maintain inventory of winemaking additions, purchase as needed and ensure prompt delivery to 3rd party facilities.
Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets to document grape receiving, juice movements, additions, and analysis.
Maintain wine movements and baseline analysis to meet all month end deadlines.
Coordinate winemaking trials and tastings, including scheduling and picking up samples.
Coordinate with laboratory and cellar regarding work orders and analysis
Cellar and lab support as needed
Includes some grape sampling/vineyard assessment.
Includes some bottling oversight and quality assurance as needed.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree in food science and / or Enology preferred or 4 to 6 years equivalent experience required,

Professional experience & know how:

Minimum 3 years winery cellar experience and lab experience
Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals
Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures
Knowledge of confined space entry process and procedures
Computer skills including Word processing, Data base and spreadsheet.
Technical & management skills:

Knowledge of cellar operations and specific activities of cellar functions
Skill in project management and/or logistics
Skill in mathematics wine additions based on formulas
Skill in lab analysis and reading lab results
Ability to organize and detail work process
Ability to use Microsoft products such as Word and Excel
Ability to work flexible work shifts and schedules
Own transportation and ability to drive to multiple locations daily
Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and with different departments to coordinate a result
Personal & interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
