Job Description:

Bergin Screen Printing & Etching (BSPE) has been servicing the wine industry with alternative bottle labeling for 30 years. We are looking for motivated machine operators willing to learn our trade and join our growing screen-printing department. BSPE moved into a new 82,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art production plant with automated bottle handling machinery in January of 2018. State-of-the-art screen-print machines and high-heat furnaces are used to print and fire label decoration on wine bottles. Our equipment is continuously maintained to keep everything running at peak conditions. Operators will receive a special opportunity for training by supervisors with decades of experience. The equipment is mechanical and electronic with a new, full CNC, decorating machine to be installed in Fall, 2019. This is a skilled position for people who have a knack for working on machinery and an eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

Operation and set up of machinery
Quality control throughout the printing process
Troubleshooting screen, squeegee and machine setups to keep print to optimum quality.
Monitoring print machines while in production, maintaining proper temperature and sufficient paint to keep machine in operation.
Set-up and adjustment of handling equipment that conveys bottles to furnaces
Monitoring furnaces to make sure temperatures are within specifications.
Completing work orders and production tracker paperwork with necessary information
Understanding workflow in all areas of production

Job Requirements:

2-3 years’ experience working with machinery in a production environment. Bottling line or bottle handling equipment experience is a bonus.
High School diploma or GED. Additional technical training, trade school, or certifications desired.
Proficiency with mechanics.
Desire to learn new disciplines and ask questions as needed.
Ability to understand and follow written instructions.
Ability to complete handwritten production reports.
Basic mathematics with an understanding of standard and metric measurements.
Fluent written and spoken English. Bilingual Spanish desired but not required.
Some supervisory skills are a plus.
Forklift experience is desired but not required.

Training:

Operators-in-training are expected to learn all aspects of production flow. A variety of printing machines, ranging from manual to semi-automated and fully automated, require varying skill levels for set-up. Operators will be trained by accomplished supervisors with decades of experience. All training is on-the-job. Advancement is solely based on the operator’s performance. Wage increases depend on the employee’s precision, speed, and skill level.

Physical Requirements:

Operators can spend most of their day on their feet.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. continuously.

Other:

The position requires a mandatory rotation from our day shift (6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), to our swing shift (4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.) every four weeks, on Mondays. Normal workdays for this position are Monday through Thursday. However, the position may require overtime (typically Fridays) for which employees receive time-and-a-half pay
