Vineyard Manager

Napa, CA

Job Description:

As a key member of management, you will report directly to the Owner. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field and experience in vineyards. The position requires the ability to manage multiple, complex tasks simultaneously, the ability to approach work with an analytical, curious, and open-mind, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in client communications. Candidate must be willing to travel to various vineyard locations within Napa and Sonoma counties.

Vineyard Development
•  Work with contractors and developers for new vineyard plans, including irrigation and erosion control
•  Permitting and county compliance
•  Implement Erosion Control Plans (ECPs)

Irrigation Management
•  Monitor vineyards to determine irrigation needs
•  Schedule weekly irrigations
•  Manage irrigation team and irrigation records
•  Assist with irrigation installation and improvements for irrigation efficiency

Vineyard Management
•  Oversee frost management team
•  Manage wind machine maintenance and operations
•  Oversee weed management team
•  Order and disperse erosion control materials
•  Assist with any needed harvest rentals and haul fruit, as needed

Administrative Management
•  Enter data into AgCode
•  Assist with regulatory compliance (Fed, State, Local)

•  Must be 21 years or older at time of hire
•  Proficient in Spanish
•  Degree in Viticulture, Agribusiness, Engineering, AND/OR equivalent experience required
•  5+ years of relevant vineyard operations and prior experience managing personnel preferred
•  Operations experience including budgeting, contract management, etc.
•  Vineyard development
•  Class A license, and/or ability to get Class A license and maintain a clean DMV record
•  Computer skills in Microsoft Office; strong functional ability with MS Excel
•  Analytical and inquisitive mindset
•  Computer skills in AgCode; strong functional ability
•  Good written and verbal communication skills
•  Support and model all company procedures and policies; must embrace, demonstrate and keep them in mind when making all decisions

Physical Demands
Position requires significant travel between office, shop and vineyards
•  Primary work activities are in the environmental elements
Employee is exposed to wet or humid conditions
Exposed to inclement seasonal weather, summer heat, cold weather, rain
•  Must be able to move/lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
•  Must be able to sit, walk, stand and stoop for prolonged periods
•  May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, farming chemicals, and fertilizers
