Job Description:

Position Purpose

Under limited supervision, responsible for maintaining, installing and troubleshooting all plant instrumentation and other control systems. Develops an understanding of all plant processes and the equipment used to control those processes. Supports the maintenance of plant equipment to ensure a minimum of downtime.

Functional Responsibility

Essential Duties

•  Isolates and corrects defective valves, broken diaphragms contaminated systems, improperly working electronic units, and other malfunctions on inefficient processes
•  Prepares reports and maintains historical records of problems and causes for specified preventative maintenance or troubleshooting assignments
•  Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration
•  Reads and troubleshoots instruments using electrical ladder schematics
•  Repairs, calibrates and cleans all instruments, pressure switches, flow tubes and gauges to ensure minimal downtime and efficient utilization of pneumatic and electronic equipment
•  Supports Controls Technicians and Instrument Technicians with assigned tasks
•  Installs and maintains pneumatic and electronic process control instruments
•  Traces and corrects control loop malfunctions, and provides assistance to maintenance and production teams concerning instrument systems
•  Participates in giving direction to plant electricians and mechanics as needed to complete repairs
•  Participates in designing controls, component changes for more efficient/accurate usage, scheduling the installation, and monitoring the startup of larger-scale projects
•  Programs parameters and troubleshoot variable frequency drives
•  Creates, installs and troubleshoots simple programs for Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers
•  Makes simple changes for Allen Bradley PanelView HMIs; installs and troubleshoots PanelView HMIs

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

•  Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
•  2-3 years' experience working with PLC controls, logic circuits, pneumatic and electrical equipment, including basic troubleshooting by means of connecting and navigating through the PLC logic

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•  Demonstrated ability to connect to PLC controllers and navigate through the program
•  Required to read, write, and understand the English language
•  Skilled in the use of programmable logic controllers, preferably Allen Bradley
•  Knowledge of variable frequency drives
