Medlock Ames produces world-class wines from 100% estate-grown, organic grapes from the Bell Mountain Ranch which straddles Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley. Our 55 acres of vineyards are farmed organically as are our 800 olive trees and market gardens. Our estate includes over 250 acres of natural forest. Dedicated to sustainability, preservation of the land is at the core of all we do, which comes through in our award-winning wines.

Bell Mountain Ranch has two private homes, a 20K case winery, business offices, three barns and a greenhouse. We’re looking for someone to have full accountability over all building and property care and the personal needs for the family on site. They will oversee the installation, repairs ongoing care and management of our property including all buildings, mechanical systems, fixtures, furnishings, and non-vineyard agriculture. This includes overseeing all maintenance of landscaping, harvesting of garden produce, and forest health. This also requires maintaining the standards of care and cleanliness in the homes. We’re looking for someone with extensive facilities and property management who will show the same love and care for Bell Mountain as we have for over 20 years. They will need to be available to deal with any issues with the ongoing maintenance of the property and facilities.
Additional responsibilities include oversight of landscape maintenance at Medlock Ames Tasting Room on Alexander Valley Road. Being a team player with a can-do attitude is a must. This is the ideal role for someone with strong critical thinking ability who is a problem solver that’s handy with tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•  Ensure all facilities are structurally sound and working properly including the homes, tennis court, rock climbing wall, car barn, offices, winery, and barns
•  Primary point of contact for all alarms, mechanical, electrical or water failures across any facilities on property. Manage vendors to ensure all systems functioning properly.
•  Must be able to maintain, troubleshoot and coordinate repair of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. This includes performing repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems including HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, grounds, and needed pest management. Expectation is that weekly walk through and testing of all buildings done.
•  Oversee preparation of homes and guest houses including cleaning, restocking, landscape refresh and any immediate maintenance needs. Work with contractors to ensure homes remain clean and cared for at all times.
•  Plan, schedule, and perform general and preventative maintenance on all buildings and systems
•  Able to perform routine maintenance of domestic and business facility systems (water, electrical, internet, power, other) and able to manage vendors to ensure ongoing upkeep of all systems across property. Troubleshoot, repairs, and maintains facility systems.
•  Work with or oversee subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule.
•  Work with and maintain a base of sub-contractors while creating a Property Manual of all systems and contacts for additional repair work required
•  Oversee and approve subcontractors invoicing, ensuring all expenses are within budget and approved in a timely fashion. Solicits multiple bids for projects when necessary.
•  Comply with all safety requirements, company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirement to maintain a safe work environment.
•  Own development of and training on safety protocols for all staff who work at Bell Mountain. This includes emergency procedures in the event of fire, floods or other natural disasters along with basic safety and first aid training
•  Oversee development and execution of annual ranch plan including planting and harvesting of market gardens, olive tree maintenance and harvest, ongoing landscape upkeep
•  Oversee the long-term clearing plan for Bell Mountain post Kincade Fire and work with Co-Founder on annual fire prevention and forest management plan
•  Organization and storage of ag building and parts for all winery equipment to ensure maximum safety, cleanliness and organization
•  Perform and assist with basic general winery maintenance as needed
•  Ensure all solar and gate systems are working effectively and being billed correctly.
•  Comply with all safety requirements, company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirement to maintain a safe work environment.


Qualifications, Expectations, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•  5+ years of relevant and proven experience in facilities or building management, caretaker experience a plus
•  Background in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical power systems a plus
•  Full accountability over all buildings and property needs at Bell Mountain
•  Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for returning out of service equipment expeditiously and effectively to production status
•  Ability to consistently maintain positive vendor relationships under what are occasionally challenging circumstances.
•  Proven ability to be an effective, innovative and enthusiastic within a small team
•  Self-motivated and willing to assume additional responsibilities
•  Available to work weekends in event of emergencies and as required for special projects
•  Ability to lift 50 pounds
•  A valid California driver’s license with clean driving record
