Spirits of Norway Vineyard & Winery is located in the historic Town of Norway in Racine County Wisconsin. The proud heritage of the Town of Norway dates back to 1839 when a group of 40 Norwegian immigrants settled in the area because of the rich growing soil. Today, some 180 years later, Spirits of Norway Vineyard continues to utilize the rich growing soil for their vineyard consisting of 650 cold climate-hybrid wine grapes. Naturally grown grapes, hand crafted in their Boutique Style winery creates pure artisan wines. This Certified Craft Winery has earned many prestigious medals in major international wine competitions. Spirits of Norway Vineyard & Winery is seeking a full-time Cellar Master.
Cellar Master Job Description: “Create award winning, locally made wine from locally grown grapes”.
As a crucial member of the winemaking team, the Cellar Master is responsible for overseeing and executing the highest standards of wine production in a safe, sanitary, and conscientious manner.
The ideal candidate will:
•  Have a strong desire to excel in the wine industry
•  Have previous experience with wine production, degree in viticulture, enology and science
•  Possess knowledge of chemistry skills needed to perform various wine production analysis
•  Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment typical of a wine production facility
•  Knowledge of and commitment to observe safety procedures
•  Possess a strong work ethic and be willing to work long hours in & out of cellar environment
•  Be able to prioritize and reprioritize daily duties based on ever changing production
•  Be willing to get dirty; sorting grapes, cleaning tanks/equipment, punch downs, fermentation analysis, filtering, blending, bottling, and much more
•  Be detail oriented and organized ensuring timely completion of written & verbal instructions

Duties and responsibilities:
•  Assist with the receiving and process of fruit during harvest
•  Sanitation of winery equipment following winery’s standard operating procedures
•  Transfer, rack, and filter wine from tank to tank
•  Lead assistants during bench trials to invent new wines
•  Assist with bottling procedures, installation of labels and capsule
•  Spot spoiling wine, and be able to identify conditions that could lead to spoilage
•  Maintain production material inventories in an orderly fashion
•  Organize and maintain neat, clean, and safe production and storage facilities
•  Maintain monthly inventory reports for bulk wine storage in tanks
•  Maintain the highest level of quality control during every process
•  Assist with winery special events throughout the year
Job requirements:
•  Must be 21+ years old
•  Flexibility to work extended hours on weekends, evenings and holidays during harvest
•  Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
•  Proficient math skills
•  Basic computer skills for ordering supplies, email, spreadsheets
•  Must be organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented
•  Ability to work independently under general supervision
•  Ability to occasionally lift and carry heavy items up to 50lbs.
•  Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods
•  Ability to operate, climb and work at raised heights on scaffolding platforms
•  Willingness to work hard, get wet and dirty, and clean meticulously
