Job Description:

Hahn Family Wines is an independent, family?owned wine company focused on growing and producing ultra? premium and luxury wines of place. We are seeking a Director, DTC based in Soledad, CA.

Our Hahn Estate Tasting Room is nestled in heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Our guests sip on award-winning wines, take in the sights and sounds of true wine country and look out over the Salinas Valley. Tasting options include award winning wines of Hahn SLH, Hahn Estate, Lucienne, Smith & Hook and prized selection of winery-only products, available exclusively to tasting room guests and wine club members. Hahn Carmel guests relax in our luxurious and inviting lounge located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, at the Carmel Plaza.

STRATEGY AND REPORTING:
•  With VP, Operations, manage SOP's and best-in-class service protocols
•  Analyze DTC sales trends for strategic opportunities; forecast annual sales and contribution goals
•  Build annual DTC departmental budget(s); set strategies and tactics to achieve goals
•  Develop monthly DTC business summaries for review by company leadership and board
•  Maximize integration of DTC channels, i.e.: Tasting Room, Wine Club, Phone/Web and Hospitality
•  Monitor and analyze DTC performance across all DTC departments including but not limited to, sales, KPI’s, staff commissions and overtime, wine and merchandise retail sales, etc.
•  Collaborate with VP, Operations, on wine production planning to optimize DTC product offering; leverage commercial brand products
•  Maintain weekly and monthly sales tracking spreadsheets; educate retail staff on volume and sales goals, and progress to goal

DTC STAFF MANAGEMENT:
•  Hire, schedule, supervise and provide leadership for tasting room staff; oversee staffing & scheduling with Tasting Room Manager &Wine Club Manager
•  Develop annual team performance goals, monitor performance of direct reports and DTC teams
•  Direct, inspire and motivate team through strong leadership, delegation and decision-making
•  Foster a success-oriented, team approach with high priority on customer service and sales
•  Conduct annual performance reviews of direct reports and provide ongoing feedback/coaching
•  Responsible for overall DTC team mentoring, education and incentive programs

BRAND & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
•  Translate brand essence into compelling sales and marketing programs to drive Tasting Room visitation, sales and average ring, increase wine club conversion and overall membership
•  Ensure programming, promotions, and DTC messaging are consistent with brand standards
•  Create and maintain annual DTC marketing calendar, including email and telemarketing campaigns, social media, media relations and consumer-facing events; build relationships with community business partners
•  With Marketing, leverage social media platforms to promote events, drive traffic and post-event, stimulate repeat business and/or eComm transactions

TASTING ROOM/ HOSPITALITY GUEST SERVICE AND SALES
•  Communicate estate history and family legacy story to engage customers to cultivate long standing customer relationships
•  Ensure Guest Beverage Service and Sales are conducted professionally; communicate effectively with guests in a confident, knowledgeable and friendly manner
•  With Tasting Room Manager, develop and execute ideas to increase consumer traffic
•  Manage Hahn Estate’s business systems as needed in the Tasting Room/Hospitality
•  Oversee special events, on-site events/tastings, or other functions as required
•  Host high profile trade wine tastings and tours, as needed
•  Maximize retail sales goals through tasting room activities and events

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•  Ability to safely operate and drive ATV to conduct tours at our SLH Estate; other duties as assigned
•  Assist with order entry, filing and other clerical duties, as needed;

COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS
•  Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis on business, preferred
•  Minimum 8 years management experience in luxury winery DTC retail, wine club and hospitality services; other proven luxury retail business or experience may be considered
•  Hospitality (hotel concierge or member club experience) and event experience, a plus
•  Experienced, proven track record leading and managing large teams
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak confidently and accurately in front of groups, both customers and staff
•  Experienced delivering best-in-class customer service; leads by example, willing to go the extra mile
•  Self-starter: creative problem solver with a “can do” attitude, strong math & analytical skills
•  Strong project management skills; confident multi-tasking, re-evaluating business priorities in a fast- paced environment
•  Dependable, highly organized, detail oriented with seasoned sales skills; accomplished selling success
•  Proficient with computers, MS Office Suite, Hot Schedules, familiarity with Social Media platforms
•  Sound understanding of accepted accounting principles
•  Flexible and available to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays
•  At least 21 years of age, with a valid driver's license & ability to operate vehicles and become an authorized company driver
•  Bilingual Spanish, working knowledge of winemaking, a plus
•  Supervisory responsibility with 3 direct reports

Employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel & talk &/or hear; reaches with hands & arms. Must frequently smell & taste food & wine. Must regularly lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis; frequently lifts up to 25 lbs. Ability to kneel, bend and stoop, push/pull and move cases of wine.
