French Oak Barrel Sales Representative
Green Light Barrels LLC, the exclusive US distributor of Tonnellerie Cavin French oak barrels, seeks an experienced wine industry sales professional in each of three regions: Napa Valley, the California Central Coast and Oregon. Tonnellerie Cavin barrels are used by hundreds of highly reputable wineries in California, France, Oregon and elsewhere around the world.
These three positions are for talented, motivated sales professionals to develop a high-potential market with a top-tier product line. Successful candidates will have experience selling directly to winemakers. The positions are focused almost exclusively on development of new accounts and then maintenance of those new accounts.
While the job is listed as "seasonal," it is more accurate to say that the majority of the job responsibilities occur during barrel sales season, roughly February through April. Depending on the growing season, there can be additional sales opportunities at harvest, roughly August through September, and it is necessary to foster client relationships year round.
*Previous experience selling directly to winemakers (products such as barrels, corks, glass, enological products, etc.) within the territory; current or previous experience selling barrels is helpful but not essential
*Extensive contacts with winemakers that make buying decisions within the territory
*Applicant lives within territory
*Ability to excel working largely independently after training
*The oral and written communication skills to describe nuanced, high-end oak barrels to winemakers making buying decisions in a crowded market
*Strong organizational and closing skills
*Willingness to call on clients on site and to follow up as necessary
*Ability to taste and describe wines—especially the interplay of new oak with wine—is a plus, though this skill is developed through training
*High comfort level developing new clients
