ETS is looking for a responsible and reliable Custodian/Handyman to take care of our building and carry out cleaning and maintenance.
The external and internal appearance of our laboratory building reflects on the company. We’ll rely on you to keep our facilities in perfect condition by doing various maintenance tasks and odd jobs in both the interior and exterior areas of our premises. The goal is to keep our building in a clean and orderly condition.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. You will have great physical endurance to cover a large space along with a keen eye for detail and diligence. You will ensure success with your careful and thorough work cleaning and tidying the premises, and your well-organized and strong general repair skills.
-Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash & recycling
-Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
-Wash and sanitize sinks and drains and restock disposables
-Wipe glass cabinets, mirrors and windows
-Maintain outer premises and clean entrances
-Transfer and transport of supplies and equipment to offsite storage areas
-Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
-Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
-Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repair
-Perform maintenance and minor repairs
-Identify and report the need for major repairs
-Clean, maintain and stock break room
-Clean and maintain deck and deck furniture
-Proven experience as custodian, janitor or handyman
-Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment
-Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
-Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
-Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
-Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
-Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
-Attention to detail and conscientiousness
-Very good physical condition and strength
-Integrity and ability to work independently
-Well-organized and attention to detail
-High school diploma
-The availability to work flexible schedules when required, especially during peak analytical seasons
Must be able to sit or stand for significant periods of time while performing a variety of tasks.
Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions such as capping and uncapping tubes or sample containers.
This position is open to non-smokers only due to sensitive sensory analyses performed in our laboratory.
