Prestigious Napa Valley cult winery is looking for full-time Production Assistant. Applicants should have at least one full year production winery experience. A degree in Enology is preferred but not required.
Stellar communication skills and excellent organizational skills are essential. The Production Assistant will report directly to the Production Manager but will need to be able to work independently. Applicant must have the ability to work a committed Harvest schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as the Harvest dictates.
Attributes & Skills
Able to lift and move objects up to 60 lbs. , e.g. empty barrels and full cases of wine
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with a winery production software preferably WMDB
Competency in Outlook and general Mac computer operations
Ability to drive a forklift
Experienced in laboratory analysis
Comfortable working in a cave environment
Grape sample processing, juice analysis on EnoFoss and refractometer.
Create and maintain juice EnoFoss calibration curves
Deputy Weighmaster duties and weigh-tag management
Daily Fermentation monitoring and reporting, fermentation analysis as needed
Manage Juice inoculations and nutrient additions
Assist with preparation of daily fermentation management schedule
Occasional cellar work such as grape sorting, punch-downs, and pumpovers if needed
Work Order and analysis data entry into winemaking software and Excel
Monthly wine analysis using a SO2 autotitrator and EnoFoss, data entry and reporting of analysis.
Maintenance of laboratory machines, supplies and calibration curves
Manage and maintain barrel inventories, perform monthly bulk wine and case goods physical inventories
Manage bottling QC and materials inventory
Execute all winery sterilization and sanitation processes effectively
Aid in the implementation and management of state compliance programs
Assist with training and supervising temporary harvest employees and seasonal staff
