Job Description:

Vintage Wine Estates is a collection of vintner family-owned winery estates and brands based in Santa Rosa, California. We are an industry leader across all sales channels and dedicated to providing wine consumers with a range of wine selections from $10 to $100 dollars. Vintage Wine Estates is a dynamic, growing organization seeking an Assistant Tasting Room Manager to join our BR Cohn Winery team. Customer service is central in our culture, with focus on both our external and our internal customers.

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will be highly skilled at sales and guest service, balancing the delivery of a gracious experience for all guests with a strong focus on sales strategies and techniques. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will provide support, mentorship and leadership to the tasting room staff to ensure a high standard of service while meeting annual sales goals.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Assist in the creation, implementation and maintaining of strategies to meet and exceed goals set by corporate
•  Coordinate menus (both wine and food) with release schedule
•  General maintenance and upkeep in tasting room (whether facilitating through outside sources or internally)
•  Maintain clear and open communication with Tasting Room Manager
•  Communicate to-date sales updates to team while motivating them to succeed
•  Responding to all emails and voicemails in a timely manner
•  Greet all visitors and pour wines for tasting
•  Create a memorable experience for guests
•  Sell wine and wine club memberships based on monthly goal
•  Describe wines and winery history; answer visitors’ questions about wines
•  Provide general tourist information
•  Assist with special events as needed
•  Represent winery at outside functions as needed
•  Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of winery and its wines
•  Prepare and manage food for wine pairings as necessary
•  Perform other duties as assigned by upper management

REQUIRED SKILLS:

•  Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
•  Knowledge of wines and wine production
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards
•  Ability to manage priorities and workflow
•  Professional appearance and demeanor
•  Excellent verbal communication skills
•  Excellent presentation skills, people management and customer service skills
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and POS systems
•  Must be capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks at once
•  Ability to manage priorities and workflow
•  Professional appearance and demeanor
•  Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Must share company values: integrity, respect, value creation, compliance, customer focus
•  3+ years’ experience with tasting room management
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and POS systems
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm
•  Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages
•  Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
•  TIPS and CA Food Handler Certifications preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

•  Must be at least 21 years of age
•  Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly
•  Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods as required by job duties
•  Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis
•  Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

•  Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays
