This is a harvest position for a new winery located in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Our small team works exclusively with our organic, estate grown fruit. We love experiments both in the vineyard and the cellar. We have fun and we get the job done right, with positive attitudes and no ego. The successful candidate will work closely with the winemaking team in all areas of winemaking.
Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Vineyard sampling and monitoring
-Sample processing and analysis
-Basic lab analyses
-Detailed and accurate record keeping (experience with Innovint a plus)
-Operating all winery equipment
-Receiving, processing, and sorting grapes
-Communicating with winemakers
-Fermentation management including pumpovers, punchdowns, delastage and additions.
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-Two previous harvests working in a small boutique winery cellar
-Basic lab experience
-Ability to climb ladders and lift 50 lbs
-Ability to work long hours including weekends
-Strong, motivated work ethic
-Be a self starter
-A positive, can-do attitude
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-A team player
-Extreme attention to detail
-A passion for wine
Employment will begin approximately mid-August and end early-December. Pay will depend on experience.
